B A S I C L I N G E R I E G L O S S A R Y :
Babydoll - A
short, sleeveless, loose fitting nightgown sleepwear that hangs from
the shoulders with lengths usually going down to the upper thighs. Can be made
from a variety of fabrics it is usually worn with panties underneath.
Boy Shorts - Panties that cover
the hips like a pair of "boys shorts" or (boxer briefs more accurately)
would. Most of the buttocks is covered depending on the styles which
vary. Boy Shorts help avoid panty lines and are more generally more
comfortable than thong style panties.
Bustier - Like a very long bra
that reaches down to the ribs or the waist and has the function of
pushing up the breasts by tightening against the upper midriff and
forcing the breasts to move up, while gently shaping the waist.
Camisole or "Cami" - Short,
sleeveless nightgown sleepwear that hangs from the shoulders similar to
that of the Chemise but tighter fitting. Made from a variety of stretch
materials and usually worn with panties underneath.
Chemise - Short, sleeveless
nightgown sleepwear that hangs from the shoulders similar to that of
the Babydoll but sometimes fits a little tighter at the hips. Made from
a variety of fabrics and usually worn with panties underneath.
Crotchless - Also called "open
crotch," pretty much as the title implies, they are panties with a slit
opening along the crotch area (the baby making area). The are also
crotchless pantyhose and other crotchless lingerie variations. The
reason for having an open crotch is almost strictly for bedroom use,
there is no practical reason to wear crotchless panties for every day
use.
G String - Unlike
a traditional panty a G-String reveals much more skin. Primarily
exposing much of the buttocks with a string which rides up between the
buttocks then reattaches at the waist portion of the panty. The front
covers the genitals while exposing more ot the upper thigh.
Thong - A panty that reveals more
skin than normal panties. Similar to the G-String the genitals are
covered with more of the upper thigh exposed but unlike a G-String
where your buttocks is only covered by a string between your bottom, a
traditional thong has a wider piece of fabric that covers the buttocks
usually rising upwards from the crotch to the waist in a V pattern.
Although exposing more of your buttocks than regular panties, it
exposes much less of the buttocks than a G-String.
Teddy - An undergarment which has
a similar look to a one piece women's swimsuit, but a little looser
fitting usually with more imaginative and sexy designs. It combines the
look of a camisole connected to a panty, one piece.
